Job summary

A client is seeking a Gardener to join a prestigious 300-acre historic landscape in Slough. The role focuses on maintaining ornamental gardens, borders, lawns and the kitchen garden, with opportunities to develop skills within a skilled gardens team.

Ideal candidates will have RHS Level 2 or NVQ Level 2 equivalents, strong plant knowledge and a proactive attitude. 40-hour week, with benefits and on-site facilities available.

Qualifications

  • NVQ Level 2 or RHS Level 2 qualification required.
  • Experience with pruning, planting, soil preparation and irrigation is essential.
  • Strong plant knowledge and high standards of presentation expected.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain ornamental gardens, borders, lawns and landscaped areas to a high standard.
  • Carry out planting, pruning, training, soil prep, irrigation and general horticultural maintenance.
  • Assist with development and improvement of estate gardens and kitchen garden.
  • Support maintenance of seasonal displays and specialist planting areas.
  • Operate horticultural equipment safely and maintain presentation across the estate.
  • Work independently and as part of the gardens team with attention to detail.

The Job:

This is an excellent opportunity to join a highly skilled gardens team responsible for maintaining and developing a stunning 300 acre historic landscape.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Maintain ornamental gardens, borders, lawns and landscaped areas to an exceptional standard
  • Carry out planting, pruning, training, soil preparation, irrigation and general horticultural maintenance
  • Assist with the continued development and improvement of the estate gardens
  • Support the maintenance of the kitchen garden, specialist planting areas and seasonal displays
  • Operate horticultural equipment safely while maintaining high standards of presentation across the estate
  • Work independently and as part of the gardens team, ensuring excellent attention to detail in all aspects of garden maintenance

The Candidate:
  • Previous professional gardening or horticultural experience with strong plant knowledge
  • RHS Level 2 qualification (or equivalent) and practical skills in pruning, planting, soil preparation and irrigation
  • Excellent attention to detail with a passion for maintaining high-quality ornamental gardens
  • Able to work both independently and as part of a professional team
  • Positive, reliable and proactive approach to work with a commitment to high standards
  • Full UK driving licence
The Package:
  • Salary up to £33,000depending on experience
  • Fixed term contract (24 months)
  • Monday to Friday, 8:00am – 4:30pm (40 hours per week)
  • Overtime paid when required

Candidate Requirements
