Job summary

Reading Borough Council is seeking a motivated Gardener/Groundsperson to maintain and enhance our outdoor spaces to a high standard. The role is hands-on, based in parks and open spaces, and suits someone who takes pride in outdoor work and enjoys working in all weathers.

The post is full time (37 hours per week), Monday to Friday, starting at 7.00am. The team is part of Streetscene, focused on safe, high-quality grounds such as bedding displays, lawns, shrub beds and minor tree works.

Qualifications

• Experience of outdoor manual working.
• Ability to operate a range of powered garden machinery.
• Able to identify and maintain ornamental planting including shrubs, trees and bedding plants.
• Full driving licence with C1 + E is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Maintain ornamental planting features and lawns to a high standard.
• Operate and maintain ride-on and pedestrian mowing equipment and hand tools.
• Carry out litter clearance and routine grounds maintenance of parks and gardens.
• Work safely and in line with health and safety guidelines.
