Job summary

Alon Zakaim Fine Art in Mayfair seeks a Gallery Technician to join a small, dedicated team. You will handle, install and light high‑value artworks, pack and transport pieces, and support the gallery’s day‑to‑day operations with careful attention to presentation.

The role requires hands‑on experience in a gallery environment, ability to work on multiple projects under pressure, and a keen interest in the arts. Occasional evenings or weekends may be required.

Qualifications

• Two years’ experience as a technician in a gallery, museum or auction house.
• Knowledge of domestic and international packing requirements.
• Experience installing exhibitions to a professional standard.
• Ability to manage multiple projects under tight deadlines.
• Attention to detail and teamwork in a high‑profile environment.
• Interest in the arts and discretion with sensitive information.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office.
• Right to work in the UK.

Responsibilities

• Safe handling, installation and lighting of high‑value artworks in the gallery and at events.
• Packing artworks for national and international transport and checking condition.
• Collection and delivery of artworks within London.
• Liaising with framers, restorers and photographers for acquisitions or clients.
• Hinging and fitting artworks into frames and installing perspex backs.
• Stock management and updating inventory in the gallery system.
• Ordering tools, lights and gallery supplies as required.
• Site and facilities management and liaising with service providers.
• Assisting with exhibition organisation and art fair participation.
• Overseeing contractors at the gallery and Director’s home.
• Managing large installation projects and coordinating with shipping firms.
• Front of house assistance and other administrative duties.
• Providing general support to the Director and senior staff.
