An educational provider in Sunderland is seeking a Functional Skills Tutor to provide engaging one-to-one or small group tuition, designed to rebuild confidence and support student learning journeys. Responsibilities

  • Provide engaging one-to-one or small group tuition to rebuild confidence.
  • Close knowledge gaps and support each student's individual learning journey.
  • Conduct sessions in community settings, schools, or homes.

Skills

Teaching qualification (QTS, QTLS, PGCE or equivalent)
Minimum 6 months experience teaching or tutoring in UK schools
Experience delivering Functional Skills (English and/or Maths)
Child workforce enhanced DBS on the Update Service
Two recent, relevant references
Right to work in the UK

Functional Skills Tutor

Hours: 10 to 15 hours per week

Rate: From GBP25 per hour

Start Date: ASAP

You will provide engaging one-to-one or small group tuition designed to re-build confidence, close knowledge gaps, and support each student's individual learning journey. Sessions will take place face-to-face in community settings, schools/alternative provisions, or within the young person's home.

Requirements
  • Teaching qualification (QTS, QTLS, PGCE or equivalent)
  • Minimum 6 months experience teaching or tutoring in UK schools
  • Experience delivering Functional Skills (English and/or Maths)
  • A child workforce enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply for one)
  • Two recent, relevant references
  • Right to work in the UK
Desirable
  • Up-to-date Safeguarding training (or willingness to complete one via Prospero)
  • Experience supporting students with SEMH, SEND, or those excluded from school
