Ideal candidates will have SEN experience and a teaching qualification, along with the ability to work flexible hours. This position is available for both part-time and full-time applicants.

The Opportunity

Prospero Teaching are partnered with Local Councils and SEND teams throughout the UK. We provide educational support to individuals who are currently out of mainstream education, those seeking additional support and individuals with SEND.

We are looking for an experienced Functional Skills Tutor in Sefton who has experience supporting children and young people who are currently working below their age expected attainment levels. Many may be unable to follow a GCSE pathway but would be able, with support, to achieve a Functional Skills qualification. You'll play a key role in re‑engaging learners, building confidence, and helping them succeed.

Due to the nature of the students we provide support to, it would be beneficial if applicants have a background and strong understanding of SEN.

Position Details

• Location – Sefton area
• Position – Functional Skills Tutor

• Duration / Likely Duration – dependent on each student
• End date – Ongoing
• Contract type – Temporary
• Full time/part time – Part time and full time depending on availability
• Hourly rate – Minimum of £25.00
• Hours – Flexible working hours between 8:30am to 4pm

Experience, Training and Qualifications

• QTS or equivalent
• Up to date Safeguarding training issued in the last year (desirable however not essential)
• UK classroom teaching experience
• Be creative, patient and willing to think outside of the box
• SEN experience

To be eligible for this role, you must:

• Hold the right to work in the UK
• Hold an enhanced child barred list DBS certificate registered with the online update service or be willing to process a new application
• Provide two professional child-related references
