Job summary

A leading project management company is seeking a full-time trainer to deliver English and Maths Functional Skills to Royal Navy personnel. The role requires previous experience in an educational setting and appropriate qualifications. It's a term-time role with good benefits and the opportunity for personal and professional growth. Salary is pro-rata, accommodating 45 working weeks a year.

Qualifications

  • Experience as a Teaching Assistant or equivalent.
  • Level 2 or higher in English and Maths are required.
  • Strong IT skills.

Due to the nature of this role, you must be eligible for UK Security Clearance at SC level.

Help get better trained personnel to the front line faster. Project Selborne is an innovative programme that aims to modernise Royal Navy training and deliver better trained sailors to the front line faster.

You will become a subject matter expert in Functional skills English and Maths, and support learners on Apprenticeship Programmes for the Royal Navy.

This is a great opportunity for anyone who wants to advance their career in the Education sector. We will provide you with all the necessary Qualifications such as Level 3 - 5 in Education and Training.

This is a term time only role with 2 weeks leave at Christmas and Easter and 3 weeks in August

What you'll be doing:
  • Delivering English and Maths Functional Skills to the Royal Navy, up to 16 in a class
  • Monitoring, identifying and producing appropriate training documentation
  • Responsible for the Duty of Care of trainees under your control
  • Developing coaching and mentoring skills to support learners
  • General administration tasks
What we're looking for:

Essential:

  • Previous experience of working in a school/education establishment eg Teaching Assistant, Learning Support Assistant, Higher Learning Teaching, SEN, Pupil Referral Unit Support or Tutor.
  • Level 2 Key/Functional Skills in English and Maths, or an equivalent/above
  • Good communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Good IT skills using Microsoft Office Suite

This role is offered on a term time basis working 45 weeks per year, with non-working weeks taken 2 weeks at Christmas and Easter and 3 weeks in August. The salary will therefore be pro rata'd and calculated to include contractual annual leave entitlement and bank holidays.
