If you answered yes, then this job opportunity for an SEN Teaching Assistant may be for you! A SEN/PRU Secondary School in Bournemouth is seeking a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to join their team.

The Role:

You will be responsible for supporting classroom teachers in providing the best support possible to students ranging in the ages 11-16 years old, with various SEN and behavioural difficulties such as ADHD, ADD, ASD, CD, MLD, OCD, ODD, SEMH, speech and language difficulties and other behavioural needs.

With modern facilities for departments such as Science, IT, Cookery, Art and Health & Fitness, and class sizes no more than 8 pupils, there is great opportunity to build amazing relationships with the pupils – allowing staff to meet individual needs and aspirations. Their approach in developing a strong relationship with their pupils helps empower the students to face and embrace challenges in a safe and consistent environment.

  • Applicant must be comfortable working in a PRU (Pupil Referral Unit)
  • A patient, resilient, innovative and caring individual with a compassionate approach to supporting young people
  • SEN(D) experience in or out of an educational setting
  • Able to collaborate with teachers and other support staff
  • Understanding of positive behaviour support strategies
  • Able to de-escalate challenging situations calmly and safely
Working Hours/Benefits:
  • Full time
  • Monday and Tuesday = 08:30 – 16:00
  • Wednesday and Thursday = 08:30 – 15:15
  • Friday = 08:30 – 15:00
