Job description

First Opinion Veterinary Surgeon – Join an Independent, Family-Run Hospital

Are you looking for a role where you can genuinely make a difference in veterinary care? At this proudly independent, family-run hospital—you’ll find a supportive, forward-thinking environment where exceptional care and compassion come first.

They hold RCVS Hospital status and multiple “Outstanding” awards, reflecting a commitment to excellence and a mission to make top-quality veterinary medicine accessible to all. The hospital offers referral-level facilities, including in-house MRI, CT, colour Doppler ultrasound, video endoscopy, a digital X-ray suite, and three theatres—all on one level

But technology is only part of what makes this hospital special. The real strength lies in the people: a close-knit, collaborative team dedicated to doing the very best for every patient and client.

They are expanding and are looking for a compassionate, motivated Veterinary Surgeon to join a team of 8 vets, 14 RVNs, and 4 receptionists. You’ll be part of a supportive environment that values teamwork, clinical excellence, and a genuine love for the profession.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys client communication, strives for the highest standards in patient care, and wants the freedom to develop their surgical and imaging skills. You’ll have the opportunity to work up cases fully, supported by certificate holders in surgery, dermatology, and imaging—plus access to advanced facilities and referral expertise, all under one roof.

You’ll have the flexibility to shape your day, with protected admin time built into your schedule and the ability to tailor your diary to your strengths and interests.

You’ll enjoy:

  • A four-day working week
  • Only 1 in 7 Saturdays and no out-of-hours commitments
  • A competitive salary and pension package
  • Accommodation (if required)
  • Dedicated admin time each day
  • Excellent CPD opportunities and career progression support

If you’re ready to take the next step in your career—working at a truly independent hospital with referral-level colleagues, first-class facilities, and an incredible team spirit—we’d love to hear from you.
