Job summary

Riverside Evangelical Church Ayr in South West Scotland is seeking a full‑time Assistant Pastor to focus on teaching, training, evangelism, youth work and pastoral care. The role involves preaching, mentoring, and caring for a diverse congregation, with collaboration with the Senior Pastor.

The successful candidate will meet Scriptural qualifications for church leadership, demonstrate a gifting for teaching, and have a warm pastoral heart.

Qualifications

• Meet the Biblical qualifications for an elder/overseer (1 Tim 3:1-7; Titus 1:5-9).
• Proven ability to teach and preach the Bible clearly and engagingly.
• Strong pastoral abilities with warmth, humility and integrity.

Responsibilities

• Preach regularly during services and lead Bible studies, home groups and visits to care homes.
• Develop training initiatives and mentor individuals within the church.
• Provide day‑to‑day pastoral oversight, including home and hospital visits.
• Engage in Evangelism and outreach within the church and wider community.
• Liaise with youth ministry and mentor young Christians.
• Collaborate with the Senior Pastor and leadership team on vision and direction.
