Job Summary

The Christie NHS Trust, in collaboration with Mid Cheshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (MCHFT), is seeking an experienced and fully qualified Advanced Clinical Practitioner to join the clinical haematology team at Leighton Hospital. This role is pivotal in the development and delivery of haematology services, providing advanced clinical care and contributing to service improvement initiatives.

Main Duties of the Job

Clinical Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive clinical assessments and request necessary investigations for haematology patients.
• Interpret test results and develop appropriate management plans.
• Provide cross-cover for clinical haematology services, including inpatient care, under the supervision of registrars and consultants.
• Offer expert advice to patients, carers, and staff, ensuring robust and ethical care pathways.
• Maintain and enhance expertise in clinical haematology, collaborating with medical staff for optimal patient management.
• Consent patients for treatments and procedures, including non-medical prescribing of first-line chemotherapy.
• Communicate complex medical information to patients and carers, including prognosis and palliative care options.
• Educate patients and carers on health promotion and illness prevention.

Management Responsibilities

• Provide line management and support to the defined team.
• Contribute to the Trust’s and department’s objectives and participate in organizational developments.
• Engage in clinical and nursing advancements within the Trust, including mentorship and policy development.
• Participate in oncology advisory boards and relevant working groups.

Training and Education

• Offer specialist training and education locally, nationally, and internationally.
• Participate in clinical supervision and continue professional development.

Qualifications

Essential:
