Job summary

Just Eat Takeaway.com is seeking an experienced engineer to lead end-to-end delivery of resilient full-stack services. You will own front-end and back-end systems from data models to deployment and production operations, helping our customer service tooling scale globally.

You will collaborate with product and service teams, mentor peers, and drive architecture decisions for an event-driven platform using Kafka, SQS, and cloud infrastructure.

Qualifications

• Experience building end-to-end full-stack services using .NET and modern frontend frameworks.
• Strong knowledge of event-driven architectures (Kafka, SQS).
• Experience with AWS/Azure and Kubernetes.
• Proven ability to mentor engineers and conduct architectural reviews.
• Familiarity with AI-assisted tooling is a plus.

About this role:

Join our Automation Tooling team to help us lead, deliver, and care for our customer service teams, partners & customers by building high-impact, real-time backend systems. As an Engineer within our Service & Supply domain, you will play a key role in designing and operating the services that power our customer service tooling. You will own front end & backend systems end-to-end, from data modelling to user\event flows, deployment, and production operations, and contribute to the architecture of an event driven platform.

These are some of the key ingredients to the role:

• Lead end-to-end technical delivery: Architect, build, and operate resilient full-stack services across .NET backends and modern frontend frameworks (Vue/React).
• Partner with internal stakeholders: Collaborate closely with customer service and product teams to translate operational bottlenecks into robust software solutions.
• Supervise and mentor engineers: Conduct architectural reviews, provide hands-on code guidance, and foster team growth through active pair programming and mentorship.
• Own platform reliability: Monitor production health using Datadog, optimize distributed event-driven systems (Kafka/SQS), and maintain CI/CD pipelines on Kubernetes.
• Champion modern engineering workflows: Introduce best practices for AI-assisted tooling (Cursor, Claude Code, GitHub Copilot) to improve developer velocity and automated code quality.

What will you bring to the table?

• Full-Stack Engineering at Scale: Hands-on experience building and operating robust .NET backend services (REST, gRPC) alongside modern frontend frameworks like Vue or React.
• Distributed Architecture & Data: Solid grasp of event-driven systems (Kafka, SQS), asynchronous design patterns, and hands-on work with NoSQL databases (DynamoDB, MongoDB) or data warehouses.
• Cloud Infrastructure & DevOps: Practical experience deploying to AWS/Azure using Kubernetes (EKS), Infrastructure-as-Code (Terraform), and automated CI/CD deployment pipelines.
• Observability & Operational Health: Familiarity with APM and distributed tracing platforms (e.g., Datadog) to troubleshoot, optimize, and maintain production reliability.
• Modern AI-Assisted Workflows: Practical enthusiasm for integrating AI developer tools (Cursor, Claude Code, GitHub Copilot) to accelerate delivery, testing, and automated reviews.
• Ownership & Team Collaboration: A proactive communicator who partners effectively with internal stakeholders (like Customer Operations), champions code quality, and mentors peers in an agile environment.
