Job summary

Accenture UK is seeking a Senior Manager in Software Engineering Transformation based in London, with travel to client sites across the UK as needed. The role focuses on strategy, leadership, and transformation delivery rather than hands-on coding, shaping large-scale programmes and driving engineering maturity.

You will lead seasoned teams, partner with senior clients, and guide AI-enabled transformation initiatives while developing the practice and contributing to growth.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience leading large-scale software engineering, technology transformation, or digital modernisation programmes within complex enterprise environments.
  • Strong track record of engaging senior client stakeholders and operating as a trusted advisor across delivery, engineering strategy, transformation, and business outcomes.
  • Experience mobilising and leading complex engagements, including establishing delivery governance, shaping teams, setting direction, and creating the conditions for successful delivery from the outset.
  • Demonstrated success leading managers, engineers, architects, and multidisciplinary technology teams, with a strong focus on people development and high-performing team culture.
  • Strong understanding of modern software engineering practices, cloud-native architectures, platform engineering, DevOps, product-centric delivery models, and engineering quality standards.
  • Previous hands-on software engineering experience with one or more modern technology stacks, combined with the ability to step back and provide strategic direction, technical judgement, and leadership guidance.
  • Experience helping organisations use AI and emerging technologies as part of wider business, engineering, or operational transformation programmes.
  • Commercial awareness with experience managing programme financials, budgets, forecasts, delivery performance, and the commercial health of engagements.
  • Experience contributing to business development activity, including opportunity shaping, proposal support, client conversations, sales enablement, and account growth.
  • A passion for building engineering communities, developing capability, sharing knowledge, and contributing to practice growth through internal initiatives, events, mentoring, or thought leadership.
  • Comfortable operating across a range of client environments and sectors, balancing strategic thinking with pragmatic delivery leadership.
  • Consulting experience is beneficial, but not essential; we are equally interested in senior engineering leaders who have built their experience within large engineering-led organisations.

Responsibilities

  • Lead complex technology transformation programmes and work with senior client stakeholders to shape and deliver business-critical outcomes.
  • Help clients modernise their technology estates, accelerate engineering maturity, and unlock value through modern delivery practices and emerging technologies.
  • Mobilise and lead large-scale engagements, establishing effective delivery structures, governance, engineering operating models, and the right team shape from the outset.
  • Balance strategic leadership with governance and practice development, shaping propositions and client relationships to drive growth.
  • Guide AI-enabled transformation programmes and ensure responsible, pragmatic use of emerging technologies.
  • Mentor and strengthen the engineering community through capability development, thought leadership, and internal initiatives.

You will be expected to build strong teams, support talent development, and contribute to the ongoing evolution of our Software & Platform Engineering practice.
