Overview

Technology is the Technology organisation responsible for the design, build and ongoing maintenance of the systems owned by the Group Functions (Risk, Compliance, Finance, Core Banking, Corporate Functions and Deputy COO). The organisation consists of over 8,000 people working in collaboration across 14 countries, to support over 3,000 applications. Cross Functions Common Components are currently seeking a Full Stack Engineer to join the Foundations Technology team.

Responsibilities
  • Engineer highly scalable, enterprise front ends to be consumed by both Finance and Enterprise Technology Services.
  • Develop high-quality, responsive web applications using React and TypeScript.
  • Collaborate with product designers and stakeholders to ensure a user‑centric experience.
  • Implement and maintain scalable, component-based front‑end architectures.
  • Produce technical designs, summarizing both technical and infrastructure solutions, ensuring they include consideration for automation, resilience, and reusability.
  • Take ownership of projects – lead initiatives, make confident technology decisions, and share knowledge with the team.
  • Work with backend engineers to define and integrate APIs.
  • Participate in code reviews, testing, and CI/CD workflows.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant controls and standards.
  • Ensure service resilience, service sustainability and recovery time objectives are met for all the software solutions delivered.
Qualifications
  • Proven experience in front‑end development and design.
  • Experience working with Python frameworks like FastAPI.
  • Proficiency in modern JavaScript frameworks.
  • Strong experience with React and familiarity with meta‑frameworks such as Next.js.
  • Skilled in writing maintainable, tested code, including component tests, end‑to‑end tests, and working with CI/CD pipelines.
  • Strong understanding of responsive design, accessibility, and web performance optimization.
  • Familiar with JavaScript testing.
  • Strong appreciation for TDD/BDD.
