Descrial is hiring a Full Stack Engineer for its UK core team in London. You’ll design, build and ship features end-to-end using TypeScript/React on the frontend and Python (FastAPI/Django) on the backend, with PostgreSQL as the source of truth on AWS.

Security, tenant isolation and a polished UX are central as we handle confidential financial data. You’ll work across product, frontend, backend, AI-enabled features and operations, ensuring robust APIs, scalable data models and real-time

Job description

Descrial is an AI work-execution platform purpose-built for alternative investment firms and their portfolio companies. It securely brings together proprietary data, external sources and workflows. Descrial is an important pillar of Enterprise Intelligence Orchestration (EIO). It makes EIO possible by structuring and standardising data and building in domain expertise, which allows faster analysis in context, broader coverage and better decisions. It is backed by TresVista's 1,800+ employees and deep domain expertise across investment diligence, research, valuation, fund administration, accounting and data analytics. The team is small, senior, high-ownership and in-office, with direct access to the Executive Committee.

OVERVIEW

As a Full Stack Engineer on the UK core team, you will design, build and ship the product end to end, from the database to the UI. You will work in TypeScript and React on the frontend, Python (FastAPI/Django) on the backend, and PostgreSQL as the system of record, all on AWS. Security, tenant isolation, auditability and a polished user experience are core engineering constraints, because our clients trust us with confidential financial data.

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Product and frontend engineering

• Build complex, data-heavy interfaces in TypeScript and React, making sound choices on rendering (server or client side) and state management (Redux, Zustand, TanStack Query or comparable)
• Turn product requirements and Figma designs into accessible, consistent UI, and help grow a shared component library and design system
• Make the UI respect a detailed role- and permission-based access model, so each user sees and does only what they are allowed to
• Build real-time experiences over WebSockets, handling loading, empty, error and stale-data states with care
• Own frontend performance, testing (unit, component, end-to-end) and quality for the areas you ship

Backend services and APIs

• Design and build services and REST APIs in Python (FastAPI/Django), using async Python and Pydantic, with clear OpenAPI contracts and backwards-compatible changes
• Model domain data in PostgreSQL: schema design, migrations (Alembic, Django migrations or comparable), indexing, query tuning and multi-tenant data isolation. Use Redis and search (OpenSearch/Elasticsearch) where they fit
• Build event-driven and background processing: queues (SQS, Celery or comparable), retries, idempotency, search indexing, audit events and notifications
• Implement authentication and authorisation end to end: SSO, OTP and session/JWT handling, and role-based access checks on every request
• Build integrations with the enterprise systems our clients use, such as Microsoft 365 (Outlook, Teams, SharePoint via Graph API), CRMs, HR systems and document stores, using OAuth and secure secrets handling

AI-enabled features

• Work with the AI/ML team to bring LLM-powered features into the product
• Build the Python layer between the product and our AI services: streaming responses, document processing endpoints, and safe access for AI agents to internal services through MCP (Model Context Protocol)
• Design UX for AI output that investment professionals can trust and audit, including source citations, clear provenance, edit and approve flows, feedback capture and graceful failure handling

Quality, security and operations

• Write well-tested code and take part in thorough code review. Follow the branching and release standards and keep CI/CD quality gates healthy
• Build with security and compliance in mind (SOC 2, UK GDPR): tenant isolation, least-privilege access, audit logging, secure file handling and data-privacy awareness
• Ship and operate services on AWS (containers/Kubernetes, S3, SQS, EventBridge). Instrument with logs, metrics and traces, and take part in fixing production issues
• Work closely with product managers, designers, QA and client-facing teams to scope, size and deliver in short cycles

WHO YOU ARE

Prerequisites

• 5+ years of software engineering, with real full-stack ownership of features in production
• Strong TypeScript and React
• Strong Python backend experience with FastAPI or Django in production
• Strong PostgreSQL data modelling and SQL (SQLAlchemy/Alembic, Django ORM or comparable)
• Experience building authentication and access control in a multi-tenant B2B product
• Experience with AWS (or a comparable cloud), CI/CD and containers
• A track record of setting technical direction and leading architecture decisions
• You build with AI coding tools daily (Cursor, Claude Code or comparable) and have a considered view of where they help and where they do not

Good to have

• Next.js and Node.js (TypeScript) in production
• An eye for layout, visual hierarchy and interaction, and sound UX judgement when there is no designer in the loop
• Building product features on LLMs (model APIs, streaming, LangChain/LangGraph, MCP)
• Background task queues (Celery or comparable), real-time features (WebSockets), Redis, OpenSearch/Elasticsearch
• SOC 2, regulated environments, or financial-services products

EDUCATION

Bachelor's degree in engineering, computer science or a related field, or equivalent experience from a strong technical background.
