About the Role

We’re looking for a skilled Full Stack Developer with strong experience in Java and AWS to join a leading organisation in the UK defence and national security sector. You’ll be working on mission-critical systems that directly contribute to national safety and innovation. Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and deploy scalable applications using Java, Spring Boot, and AWS services.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams (DevOps, Security, Cloud Engineering) to deliver high-quality solutions.
• Contribute to the full software development lifecycle – from design and development through to testing and deployment.
• Ensure best practices in coding, testing, and cloud architecture are consistently applied.
• Participate in Agile ceremonies and actively contribute to sprint planning, reviews, and retrospectives.

Essential Skills & Experience

• Strong Java development skills (Java 11+ preferred).
• Proven experience with AWS cloud services (EC2, Lambda, S3, RDS, etc.).
• Solid understanding of front-end technologies such as React, Angular, or Vue.js.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines, Git, and containerisation (Docker / Kubernetes).
• Knowledge of Agile / Scrum development practices.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Must hold or be eligible for SC Clearance (UK national, resident for 5+ years).

Desirable Skills

• Experience with microservices architecture.
• Exposure to infrastructure as code (Terraform / CloudFormation).
• Familiarity with DevSecOps principles and secure coding practices.
• Background in the defence, aerospace, or national security domain.
