Job summary

Defaqto in Cwmbran (Wales) is seeking a Full-Stack Python Developer to join a small, collaborative team building fintech software for the insurance market. You will work across the stack using Python, Django, SQL, and React to develop new features and support existing applications.

You’ll contribute to code quality, participate in CI/CD, and help shape product evolution in a fast-paced fintech environment. Hybrid working a couple of days in the office, with a strong emphasis on collaboration.

Qualifications

Role Overview

We’re looking for a Full-Stack Python Developer to join a small, collaborative team building and supporting fintech products used across the insurance market.

You’ll work across the stack using Python, Django, SQL, and React, contributing to both new product development and ongoing application support. This is a hands‑on role with real influence over how our products evolve.

What you’ll do

• Design, build, and maintain applications using Python and Django
• Work across the full stack, including front-end components (React, JS, CSS)
• Translate business and user needs into practical technical solutions
• Improve system performance, scalability, and reliability
• Contribute to code reviews and engineering best practices
• Write testable, maintainable code with appropriate unit tests
• Support live applications and troubleshoot complex issues
• Collaborate with stakeholders across the business and occasionally with clients
• Contribute to CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps

Location

Hybrid working a couple of times a week from our Cwmbran office.
