Job summary

Birds Bakery in Bingham is seeking a FTC Floating Sales Assistant with potential of management responsibilities. The role is based in our Bingham shop (NG13 8AR) with potential for extra shifts in East Nottingham. 16 hours per week on a fixed-term contract until at least January; driving is essential.

Your duties include greeting customers, selling bakery products, handling till, restocking, and keeping the shop clean. You may take on management shifts on Sundays, with higher pay when managing.

Qualifications

• Experience in food retail preferred but not essential.

FTC Floating Sales Assistant (with potential of management responsibilities)

Job Title:Sales Assistant (picking up management shifts on a Sunday)

Location: This is a floating role based in our Bingham Shop (NG13 8AR) with the potential of extra shifts in our East Nottingham shops

Hours: Minimum of 16 hours per week (fixed term contract until at least January)

Salary:£12.71 per hour (£13.46 per hour when managing a shop) (depending on age, details below)

Purpose

We are looking for someone to join us, initially on a fixed term contract until January (with the potential of this moving to a permanent role) who will cover in our East Nottingham shops so it is essential you are able to drive for this position. The purpose of a bakery sales assistant is to servecustomers, sell bakery products and help keep the shop clean and organised, aswell as a friendly and welcoming environment. Making sure customer service andquality is at the forefront of everything we do.

Responsibilities

• Greetand serve customers in a friendly and helpful manner.
• Recommendbakery items such as bread, cakes, and pastries.
• Takecustomer orders and package products properly.
• Operatethe till/cash register and handle payments.
• Restockshelves and displays to keep products available and attractive.
• Maintaincleanliness and hygiene in the shop and display areas.
• Answercustomer questions about ingredients, prices, or products.
• Upsellproducts to customers for example offering hot drinks with food, or a nicelittle treat in upselling confectionaries goods.
• Prepareand serve a range of hot and cold bakery and food-to-go / eat in products.

Shifts

The successful candidate will need to be able to work a minimum on Mondays, Wednesdays and Sundays.

Experience

• Previousexperience in food retail is preferred but not essential as we will giveyou all the training you need to be successful.
• Strongcommunication and customer service skills.
• Apositive attitude and the ability to stay resilient in a busy environment.
• Experiencehandling cash or working with tills / Card machines (training will beprovided).
• Flexibilityto work shifts between Monday and Sunday.

• 4weeks annual leave (Pro rata), increasing incrementally to 5 weeks after 5years of continuous service, plus bank holidays

Pay Rates

• Age 19+: £12.71 per hour
• Age 18: £10.85 per hour
• Age 17: £8.50 per hour
