A prominent health organization in Cardiff seeks enthusiastic doctors for a junior doctor role in the Emergency Department, beginning February 4, 2026. This position, not recognized for training, offers extensive opportunities to develop emergency medicine skills with support from experienced consultants. The role includes working in a busy unit with a chance to engage in a dynamic healthcare environment, treating a wide range of cases. The annual salary ranges from £37,737 to £49,925, plus on-call benefits.
Applications are invited for the above post from enthusiastic doctors to join our Emergency Department team in Cardiff. This post is to cover vacancies on the GPVTS scheme and is available to start from 4th February 2026 for 6 months.
Whilst this post is not recognised for training, successfully appointed applicants will work the same rota, receive clinical supervision, protected study leave and study budget as doctors in training working on the same tier.
We are a large unit in a University Hospital setting seeing approximately 120,000 new patients per annum. We provide acute care for adults and children with needs ranging from minor injury to critical illness. There is extended Consultant shop‑floor supervision seven days per week. Consultants working in the department have close links with Cardiff University, the All Wales School of Emergency Medicine and the Royal College of Emergency Medicine and can offer mentorship and career advice to successful applicants.
The post holder will work at junior doctor level in the Emergency Unit. We will support the individual to develop skills and competencies across the breadth of Emergency Medicine, including but not limited to ultrasound, observational medicine, pre‑hospital, paediatrics, frailty. The clinical work is well supported by middle grades and consultants throughout the 24/7 period. This is an opportunity to further develop and embed clinical skills and experience in emergency medicine.

£37,737 to £49,925 a year Per Annum, Plus on calls (1A | 50%).
