Job summary

Derbyshire Constabulary is seeking an Operational Police Officer to join our frontline teams. You will respond to a wide range of incidents, work long shifts and make decisions that protect communities and uphold the law.

Starting salary £32,256, rising to £52,014 within 7 years, with a 32‑week training program and a Spring/Summer 2027 start window. Derbyshire Constabulary welcomes applicants from diverse backgrounds and experiences.

Qualifications

• 2 A levels or Level 3 equivalent (or final year of study)
• Be a current PCSO with development plan, probation, and training requirements
• Be a Special Constable with 16 hours/month
• Be a current NIO with PIP1 and probation
• 2 years in a public-facing role in Investigation, Emergency Services or Prison Service
• UK/EU manual driving licence required before pre-employment checks

Responsibilities

• Provide frontline response to incidents, making proportionate risk-based decisions
• Engage with local organisations and communities to problem-solve and build trust
• Interact with victims, witnesses and suspects, upholding equality and human rights
• Identify risks and take action to protect individuals
• Conduct priority and high-volume investigations with quality case files
• Gather and act on information, intelligence and evidence in line with policy
