Job summary

The London Borough of Harrow is seeking a Private Sector Housing Officer to safeguard housing standards across the borough. You will carry out enforcement, inspection and advisory duties, working with residents, landlords and agents to promote safe, compliant homes.

This frontline role blends office and site work, requiring travel around Harrow and occasional out-of-hours duties. You will operate within the enforcement team, applying legislation and Council policies to achieve positive outcomes.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of legislation enforced by the Private Sector Housing Team.
• Experience inspecting and rating properties using HHSRS.
• Full current driving licence.
• Ability to work independently and in a team.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Competence with standard computer systems.
• Aptitude for technical and legal aspects of the discipline.
• Inclusive team worker able to collaborate across teams.
• Willingness to work outside normal hours including emergencies.

Responsibilities
