Job summary

Commerce seeks a Software Engineer to build high-quality front-end features with React and TypeScript, focusing on checkout experiences and payment integrations on the BigCommerce platform. You will work with product, design, and fellow engineers to deliver scalable, secure, and reliable UI components.

You will refactor legacy code, improve performance, and contribute to the front-end developer experience, while mentoring others and upholding quality standards across the codebase.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of hands-on experience building front-end applications with React and TypeScript.
• Bachelor's degree in CS, EE, SW, CE, MIS or equivalent experience.
• Clear communicator, able to explain technical details and trade-offs to engineers and non-engineers.
• Enjoy mentoring and supporting others and improving code quality.

Responsibilities

• Build high-quality front-end features using React and TypeScript, focusing on clarity, performance, and maintainability.
• Refactor legacy or complex areas of the codebase to improve readability and testability.
• Identify and fix issues across the stack to ensure robust, scalable solutions.
• Collaborate with product managers, designers, and engineers to define requirements and deliver outcomes.
• Provide code reviews and technical guidance to less experienced engineers.
