Job summary

Elsevier is seeking a Frontend Software Engineer to help build modern web applications using React and Node.js in a collaborative, cross-functional team. You will work on AI-assisted development workflows and contribute to high‑quality, scalable software used by researchers worldwide.

You will collaborate with UX/UI designers, implement responsive interfaces, and help advance testing, CI/CD, and code review practices in a dynamic, London‑based engineering group.

Qualifications

• Experience building modern web applications using React
• Experience working with Node.js, Express, or related backend services
• Experience working with RESTful APIs
• Familiarity with agile development practices such as Test‑Driven Development and automated testing/deployment
• Strong collaboration and communication skills

Responsibilities

• Work as part of a cross‑functional agile product team to develop modern web applications
• Implement intuitive, interactive user interfaces using React
• Collaborate with UX/UI designers to translate designs into functional apps
• Use AI-assisted development tools to design, implement, refactor, and debug software
• Evaluate and validate AI-generated output to maintain quality
• Help evolve AI-supported development workflows
• Write well-tested, documented, peer‑reviewed code
• Collaborate with Product Managers and QA to meet user and business needs
• Contribute to engineering best practices including testing, CI/CD, code review, and continuous improvement
• Support the growth of the London engineering team through collaboration and knowledge sharing
