Job summary

A local credit union located in Northern Ireland is seeking a Front of House Teller to perform various administrative and operational duties. This person will deal with member transactions, manage correspondence, and balance cash on a daily basis. Ideal candidates will have GCSE English and Maths, strong communication skills, and be detail-oriented. The position offers up to 25 hours per week, with potential for additional hours based on availability. Training opportunities are available.

Qualifications

  • Ability to handle member queries both by phone and in person.
  • Pathways certificate in Credit Union Operations preferred.

Responsibilities

Job description

The EMPLOYER IS: DROMARA & DRUMGOOLAND CREDIT UNION LTD The front of house teller will be accountable to the management of the Credit Union for carrying out a range of administrative and operational activities that contribute to the effective running of the Credit Union. The positions may require flexibility with regards to working hours.

Responsibilities
  • Process standing orders from members and transactions relevant to the sub-offices.
  • Dealing with foreign exchange counter transactions, both issuing and checking.
  • Filing of correspondence, photocopying and typing as required. Computer inputting and printouts and general office work such as shredding, post distribution and directing telephone queries.
  • Filing membership application forms, loan application and insurance forms.
  • Dealing with members concerning lodgements and withdrawals as well as updating pass books.
  • Balancing and lodging receipts, processing small loans within agreed limits set by the management team and board.
  • Preparing lodgements and depositing lodgements with the bank.
  • Balancing cash on a daily basis.
  • Undertake such other reasonable and lawful duties as may be required from time to time by the manager.
Skills and Qualifications
  • GCSE English and Maths (C or above).
  • Good oral and written communication skills.
  • Competence in financial administrative work.
  • Competence in using computerized systems including Microsoft Publisher, Excel and Word.
  • Competence in handling member queries both by phone and in person.
  • Accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Awareness of confidentiality issues.
  • Ability to work effectively as a team member and to work on own initiative.
  • Good customer service, complaint handling and communication skills.
  • Willingness to undertake training and development.
  • Full driving licence and access to own transport.
  • Knowledge of Credit Unions.
  • Competence in the completion of complex documentation.
  • Awareness of financial regulation issues.
  • Pathways certificate in Credit Union Operations.
  • Awareness of data protection legislation.
Further Information

Location: Offices in Dromara and Drumgooland.
Standard Hours: up to 25 hours per week.
Flexible/Reduced Hours: May be available upon approval by a Work Coach.
Additional Hours: The employer may offer extra hours depending on availability. This should be discussed directly with the employer before starting employment.
