Job summary

Matchtech in the United Kingdom seeks a hands-on Front End Lead / Interim Tech Lead to drive a greenfield React/TypeScript front end for a next‑gen SaaS platform on Microsoft Azure. You will stay hands-on while line-managing a small team and defining front-end standards.

Initial day-rate contract with a view to permanent leadership as the team expands; mobilisation on-site in Bristol with a hybrid model thereafter.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of software engineering experience.
• Strong TypeScript and React expertise.
• Leadership experience with small engineering teams.
• Experience delivering SaaS products and greenfield apps.
• API-first/contract-first development experience.
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and automated testing.
• Experience introducing AI-assisted development practices.

Responsibilities

• Lead the front-end design, architecture and delivery of a modern React/TypeScript application.
• Remain hands-on in code and conduct design reviews.
• Line manage and mentor a small front-end team.
• Define engineering standards, testing and accessibility practices.
• Drive AI-assisted development and governance across the team.
• Establish CI/CD pipelines and scalable delivery processes.
• Collaborate with back-end teams for contract-first API integration.
