Position: Freight Forwarder | Location: Portsmouth | Salary: £27,500 - £31,500

Our client is seeking an experienced Freight Forwarder to join a busy and fast‑paced transport office based in Portsmouth.

Job Overview
  • Manage day‑to‑day freight forwarding tasks: quoting, job creation, issuing Bills of Lading/Air Waybills, monitoring shipments, and invoicing.
  • Handle export shipments mainly by air and road, with additional work in sea freight and imports.
  • Arrange collections/deliveries and coordinate with carriers, partners, and customers to ensure smooth and timely movements.
  • Complete customs entries and ensure all documentation is accurate and compliant.
  • Maintain shipment and client records using internal systems and CRM tools.
  • Negotiate rates and terms with carriers, suppliers, and clients.
  • Track shipments from start to finish and resolve any delays or clearance issues.
  • Support the commercial team by identifying potential leads or opportunities.
Job Requirements
  • Minimum 2 years’ freight forwarding experience.
  • Strong understanding of multimodal operations across air, road, and sea.
  • Confident with customs entries, Incoterms, and freight documentation.
  • High attention to detail with strong data entry accuracy.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Knowledgeable, with exposure to dangerous goods or other industry training beneficial.
Salary & Benefits
  • Salary: £27,500 - £31,500 depending on experience.
  • Monday to Friday – 9:00am to 5:30pm (Office Based).
  • In‑house fleet and warehouse provide strong operational support.
