Overview

MPI are currently recruiting for a Freight ETCS Systems Safety Engineer. Based in Chippenham. Start ASAP – until Oct 26. Outside IR35 - Rate Neg.

Role and Responsibilities

The role requires the application of safety engineering analysis techniques in accordance with CSM-RA and CELENEC standards. It includes planning of safety activities, conducting hazard identification exercises, hazard analysis and hazard log management, gathering safety assurance evidence, producing application safety case arguments, and liaising with key stakeholders.

  • Implement safety activities in accordance with the systems safety plan.
  • Convene and manage hazard identification workshops and populate and manage the project hazard record.
  • Identifying hazards, hazard analysis and management, and assessing safety risk
  • Implement a common and auditable approach in the identification of Safety requirements, their implementation, and verification of compliance with those requirements.
  • Risk assess engineering governance and quality management processes throughout system design, implementation, verification and approval stages.
  • Effectively communicate relevant information on risk issues.
  • Engage with Operators, independent safety assessors, certification bodies and wider project stakeholders to obtain necessary approval.
  • Produce Hazard Analysis Reports and Safety Cases structured to CENELEC 50129.
Experience requirements
  • Understanding and application experience of safety planning and management activities, including requirements capture, hazard analysis and preparation of analyses and deliverables.
  • Experience of CENELEC 50126/50128/50129 and application of CSM-RA.
  • Experience in the specific application of safety-critical ETCS products.
  • Experience on Application of CCS NTSN and Assurance NTSN.
  • Experience in the UK rail industry with respect to the engineering safety management with previous rolling stock experience preferred.
  • Experience of configuration management methods/tools and verification and validation processes.
