Qualifications

  • Minimum 2 years of professional videography experience or equivalent freelance portfolio demonstrating a range of projects.
  • A current demo reel or online portfolio showing projects and the candidate’s role.
  • Proficiency with professional camera systems, lighting setups, on-camera and field audio capture.
  • Strong editing skills in Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro X, or DaVinci Resolve; After Effects familiarity preferred.
  • Own professional camera, lenses, microphones, and lighting; ability to operate gear independently.
  • Clear communication, time-management, and ability to meet deadlines.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation for on-site shoots.
  • Right to work as a contractor; ability to provide invoices; liability insurance if requested.

Job description

We are seeking a reliable, creative Freelance Videographer to join our team on a part-time, project-based basis. The ideal candidate will be experienced in planning and executing professional video shoots, editing polished deliverables, and translating client briefs into engaging visual stories for web, social, and live events. This role is freelance, part-time, with flexible hours and opportunities for recurring projects depending on performance and client needs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Pre-production: Collaborate with clients or project managers to interpret briefs, develop shot lists, cast talent (if required), scout locations, prepare schedules, and identify equipment needs.
  • Production: Operate professional camera systems (DSLR/mirrorless/cinema), audio recorders, lighting kits, stabilizers (gimbal/steadicam), and other grip equipment to capture high-quality footage; direct subjects and manage on-set logistics.
  • Post-production: Edit footage into final videos (short-form social clips, interviews, promotional pieces, event highlights) with attention to pacing, storytelling, and brand guidelines; perform color correction/grading, audio mixing, and basic motion graphics/titling.
  • Deliverables & File Management: Export and deliver files in client-required formats and resolutions, maintain organized project archives, and ensure backups of raw and edited media.
  • Client Communication: Present work-in-progress, incorporate feedback, meet deadlines, and maintain professional, clear communication across email, calls, and project management tools.
  • On-site & Travel: Work at client locations and events as required (may include evenings and weekends); follow safety protocols and site rules.
  • Administrative: Submit estimates and invoices, track time and expenses, and comply with contractual and insurance requirements.
Required Qualifications
  • Experience: Minimum 2 years of professional videography experience or equivalent freelance portfolio demonstrating a range of projects (commercial, event, social content).
  • Portfolio: A current demo reel or online portfolio showcasing recent work and the candidate’s role on each project.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency with professional camera systems, lighting setups, on-camera and field audio capture, and workflow best practices.
  • Editing Software: Strong skills in at least one major NLE (Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro X, or DaVinci Resolve); familiarity with Adobe After Effects or similar for motion graphics preferred.
  • Equipment: Access to your own professional camera, lenses, microphones, and lighting. Ability to operate and maintain gear independently.
  • Communication & Organization: Clear verbal and written communication, strong time-management, attention to detail, and ability to meet deadlines.
  • Logistics: Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation for on-site shoots; able to lift and carry equipment (up to ~40 lbs).
  • Legal: Right to work as a contractor in the hiring jurisdiction and willing to provide invoices; ability to obtain or maintain liability insurance if requested.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Advanced Equipment Skills: Experience operating drones (with applicable certifications), multi-camera live switching, RED/ARRI camera systems, or advanced audio setups.
  • Specialized Post-production: Color grading with DaVinci Resolve, advanced motion graphics/compositing, and/or audio restoration techniques.
  • Industry Background: Experience working with brands, advertising agencies, corporate communications, or nonprofits.
  • Social Media & Marketing: Understanding of platform-specific formats and best practices for Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, and LinkedIn content.
  • Education: Degree or certificate in film production, media, communications, or related field (beneficial but not required).
  • Language Skills: Bilingual ability for projects requiring multiple languages.
  • Client Relations: Prior experience managing client-facing projects end-to-end with positive client references.
