Job summary

We are seeking a Freelance Site Engineer for a major civil infrastructure project in the Bristol/North Somerset area. The role involves setting out, surveying, QA documentation, and coordinating daily site activities on a 12-month freelance assignment (Outside IR35).

Responsibilities include liaising with site management, subcontractors and client representatives, monitoring quality, and providing technical support to the site team. Start: mid-October 2026.

Qualifications

• Previous experience as Site Engineer on civil engineering or infrastructure projects.
• Strong setting out experience across groundworks and drainage.
• Experience with reinforced concrete works is advantageous.
• Competent with robotic total station / GPS equipment.
• Solid QA processes and construction drawings knowledge.
• CSCS card is required.
• Relevant engineering qualification preferred.
• Able to work independently and as part of the project team.

Responsibilities

• Setting out and surveying works across the project.
• Setting out groundworks, drainage, RC structures and external works.
• Managing QA documentation, ITPs and as-built records.
• Ensuring works are delivered in accordance with drawings, specifications and programme.
• Liaising with site management, subcontractors and client representatives.
• Monitoring quality standards throughout the works.
• Providing technical support to the wider site team.
• Assisting with planning and coordination of daily site activities.
