Location: United Kingdom; fully remote; Applicants from EMEA, South America, North America, within 4h of UTC+1 are welcome. English fluency (written & spoken) required.

Freelancing at Human Made: Join us as a freelancer and feel part of the team. Work on complex projects with industry‑leading talent. Fully remote since over 10 years. Once qualified, you’ll be added to our freelance talent pool and invited to projects that suit your availability and expertise as they become available. When booked on a project you’ll integrate into the team, joining meetings and activities (with a strong emphasis on asynchronous communication).

Scrum Master Role

As a Scrum Master you will create self‑organising teams that are flexible and fully productive during sprints, aiming to build high‑performing teams. You’ll plan deliverables, help teams monitor performance, coach and mentor, and continuously align the team’s value with our priorities.

Responsibilities

• Applying Scrum To Produce High Quality Work
  • Manage each project’s scope and timeline
  • Create and maintain a team culture that facilitates a shared responsibility for successful delivery
  • Guide the team on principles and practice of the agile framework being used in the project
  • Work with the team to define and refine project scope, estimates, and resource requirements
  • Prepare and facilitate workshops (virtual or in‑person) to establish project needs and relationships
  • Facilitate meetings to monitor progress and resolve any issues the team may be experiencing
  • Remove impediments or guide the team to do so
  • Assess the time and financial impact of scope change and communicate to stakeholders as appropriate
  • Identify when to use experiments for learning and solutioning

  • Be commercially aware: understand the status of the budget of your projects and report on them back to the company
  • Allocate management of project needs in conjunction with your squad composition
• Building And Safeguarding Relationships
  • Facilitate wider engagement with internal and external stakeholders, and partners engaged in delivery
  • Build a partnership relationship with clients, understanding their business imperatives as context for aligning the team on those goals
  • Understand the workings and needs of the account you are partnered with
  • Communicate regularly; be proactive in facing difficult conversations
  • Manage your interactions with clients and internal team professionally and personably
  • Use data to allow the team and wider business to make critical decisions

Requirements

• Scrum Master certification or qualification, or equivalent work experience
• Experience applying scrum, a wider awareness of agile principles, and a data‑driven mindset
• Enterprise agency environment experience
• Highly developed skills in servant leadership, facilitation, situational awareness, conflict resolution, continual improvement, empowerment, and increasing transparency
• Experience in using a wide range of project management tools such as budget/time tracking tools and issue tracking software, with depth of knowledge to recommend the right tools for a project
• Proficiency in written and oral communication in English, and ability to utilise and parse technical terminology comfortably
• Broad understanding of web technologies such as HTML/HTML5, CSS, CMS, Javascript, and version control
