Job summary

Premium Linguistic Services (PLS) is seeking freelance interpreters fluent in English and Japanese to provide face‑to‑face interpretation in Glasgow and surrounding areas. You will attend in-person appointments, ensuring accurate and impartial communication while maintaining confidentiality and professional conduct.

The role offers flexible freelance assignments with opportunities across a variety of settings.

Qualifications

• A formal interpreting qualification is not required.
• We welcome both qualified and non-qualified applicants. Previous interpreting experience or a relevant qualification is an advantage, but it is not essential.

Premium Linguistic Services (PLS) is looking for friendly, reliable and professional freelance interpreters to provide Face-to-Face interpreting services inGlasgowand surrounding areas.

Whether you are an experienced interpreter or looking to use your language skills professionally, we would be delighted to hear from you.

As a Freelance Face-to-Face Interpreter, you will help bridge language barriers by enabling clear communication between people who do not share the same language.

You will attend appointments in person and interpret conversations accurately, clearly and impartially.

Assignments may take place in a variety of professional and community settings, giving you the opportunity to meet different people and use your language skills where they are genuinely needed.

This is a flexible freelance role, so you can accept assignments based on your availability.

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

A formal interpreting qualification is not required.

• Have strong listening and verbal communication skills
• Can process and communicate information accurately
• Are confident communicating with people from different backgrounds
• Understand the importance of confidentiality and impartiality
• Are reliable, professional and punctual
• Can remain calm and focused in different situations
• Are willing and able to travel locally for assignments
• Have the Right to Work in the UK
• Hold a valid DBS certificate or be willing to obtain one – a valid DBS is mandatory and must be in place before undertaking any assignments with PLS.
