Job summary

Wootton Academy Trust is seeking an experienced Governance Professional to support our Board of Trustees, Governing Bodies and Executive Leadership Team. This freelance role involves attendance at approx.

21 in-person meetings per academic year and occasional exclusion panels, with a clear focus on governance compliance and effective operation. We welcome applicants with governance, compliance, education, legal or senior administrative backgrounds who can provide expert guidance, prepare papers,

Qualifications

Experience in governance, compliance, education sector or senior administrative roles.
Ability to prepare agendas, minutes and board papers with accuracy.
Experience in trustee/governor recruitment, induction and training, records management.

Responsibilities

Provide expert governance advice and procedural guidance to trustees and governors.
Prepare agendas, coordinate meeting papers and attend Board, Committee and LGB meetings.
Produce high-quality minutes and maintain governance records.
Support trustee and governor recruitment, induction and training.
Maintain governance compliance, registers and statutory documentation.
Monitor policy review schedules and support compliance arrangements.
Clerk statutory panels including complaints, exclusions and appeals as required.
Support governance readiness for external reviews and inspections.
