We are looking for a Fraud Strategy Lead to head our fraud function and overhaul our current processes on fraud prevention and investigation, embed a culture of automation and innovation, and build a best‑in‑class fraud defence strategy. Working collaboratively with senior leadership and cross‑functional teams and our clients, you will have the autonomy to redefine our approach to fraud prevention and detection, drive efficiency, and establish high standards of fraud prevention and detection to protect both our clients and the BCB.

Reporting to the Head of Financial Crime Operations, you will be the firm’s subject‑matter expert on all things related to fraud strategy. You will own the vision for our fraud prevention and detection roadmap, provide decisive guidance on complex challenges, and directly contribute to building a resilient and forward‑looking team. Your mission is to implement a technology‑driven framework that leverages automation and AI to combat emerging threats.

Key Responsibilities

  • Strategic Leadership: Take full ownership of designing and executing the firm's new fraud prevention and detection strategy. Develop, write, and implement new SOPs, systems, and controls to enhance detection, investigation, and reporting.
  • Operational Transformation & Risk Execution: Conduct a review of our current fraud prevention and detection capabilities, identifying key risks and opportunities for immediate and long‑term improvement. Develop and execute a robust strategy to significantly reduce fraud. Design and execute clear policies for clients who cross fraud‑level thresholds.
  • Technology & AI Integration: Champion the use of modern technology to future‑proof our fraud defences. Leverage data to develop and implement effective strategies and enhance controls.
  • Team Development & Vision: Act as a decisive leader for the fraud team. Mentor and upskill existing team members while shaping the vision for future growth.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration & Advisory: Serve as the primary subject‑matter expert on fraud risk across the business. Work closely with other teams to embed fraud prevention into new products. Provide clear and insightful Management Information and strategic advice to senior stakeholders on emerging trends, regulatory changes, and industry best practices.
What are we looking for
  • You will have proven, extensive experience in a senior fraud strategy role within payments, crypto, or banking sectors.
  • Demonstrable track record of successfully transforming a fraud function, moving from manual, inefficient processes to a streamlined, automated, and technology‑driven framework.
  • Deep, practical expertise in key fraud typologies, especially APP scams, social engineering, investment scams etc.
  • A decisive, hands‑on leader who is comfortable defining a vision, making tough decisions, and executing a strategic roadmap from the ground up in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Strong understanding of and passion for leveraging modern technology, including AI and automation, to create scalable and effective fraud prevention controls.
  • Experience in building, mentoring, and leading high‑performing operational teams, with a clear ability to foster a culture of excellence and continuous improvement.
  • Ability to analyse and synthesise complex information and distil into readily comprehensible and practical advice relevant to the commercial, strategic and financial context, applying a risk‑based approach to development of business solutions and decision‑making. Demonstrate a creative and innovative approach by finding different ways to look at problems and design novel solutions
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • Autonomous, pro‑active and hands‑on with the ability to prioritise and manage own work effectively, apply a breadth of technical, business, product and customer domain knowledge, own the outcome and make an impact.
  • Used to working in a diverse, international, fast‑moving business and fast evolving regulatory environment.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
