Job summary

Government Recruitment Service is seeking a Fraud Investigator in Dunfermline to lead investigations within the Counter Fraud, Compliance and Debt Directorate. You will manage cases from start to finish, conduct interviews under caution, gather and review evidence, prepare prosecution cases and attend court when required.

The role supports protecting the public purse, with opportunities to learn, progress and maintain a healthy work-life balance.

Qualifications

• Experience managing investigations through the full lifecycle.
• Ability to gather, review and exhibit evidence.
• Experience with legal frameworks and court procedures.

Responsibilities

• Request necessary evidence from designated sources using Authorised Officer powers.
• Collaborate with Local Authorities, Police and HMRC within partnership frameworks.
• Research information for investigations, ensuring it meets legal standards.
• Complete RFIs as needed.
• Record and retain materials for Disclosure purposes.
• Recommend next steps to Team Leaders for action.
• Conduct Interviews under Caution per PACE and law.
• Prepare prosecution cases following CPS guidance and relevant offices.
• Attend court and give evidence in criminal cases and tribunals.
• Communicate confidently with internal staff and external agencies promoting fraud awareness.
