Job summary

Harnham is partnering with a fast-growing financial services organisation to hire an Applied Data Scientist focused on fraud prevention. This role blends machine learning, analytics and business insight to tackle complex fraud challenges.

Located in London with hybrid working (twice a week in-office), the role offers a salary up to £65,000 plus equity. You will collaborate with data, technology, risk and product teams to develop fraud detection models and deliver measurable business impact.

Qualifications

• Experience within fraud analytics, fraud prevention or a risk-focused data science environment.
• Strong ML and statistical modelling with hands-on Python experience and libraries.
• Proficiency in SQL and working with multiple structured and external data sources.
• Experience deploying analytical or ML solutions into production environments.
• Excellent communication skills to present findings to technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Develop fraud prevention strategies and build ML models across the data science lifecycle.
• Collect, process and analyse large datasets to identify fraud risks and opportunities.
• Evaluate new data sources and technology solutions via analysis and proof-of-concept work.
• Monitor model performance and produce reports for stakeholders.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams on fraud, risk and customer verification initiatives.
