About the job

As a Fraud Analysis Officer, you will gather intelligence from a range of sources, both reports from colleagues and a range of data sources. You will assess the credibility of the intelligence and produce intelligence reports with a review to tasking a Fraud Investigations Officer to conduct a criminal investigation.

You will have a high level of attention to detail and be able to detect anomalies in data sets which may be indicative of irregular travel.

Your main responsibilities will be:
  • Conduct objective, fair, thorough, unbiased, and timely reviews of reports from frontline colleagues to determine if there are any suspicious activities.
  • Undertake analysis of data from various sources to detect suspicious activity.
  • Produce intelligence reports, and task Fraud Investigations Officers to undertake further enquires.
  • Manage and prioritise a large and varied case load effectively and efficiently to achieve positive results
  • Assist Fraud Investigations Officers and Prosecutions Case Officers in determining the financial loss that needs to be recovered.
  • Have a thorough understanding of ticketing, restrictions, and validities, as well as those of supporting documents.
  • Understand retailing, keep up to date with Retail issues and attend relevant courses as appropriate, with a specific focus on new products.
  • Have an understanding of evidential standards for criminal investigations, as well as court room procedure.
  • Have a working knowledge of the Railways (Penalty Fares) Act 2018, the Railway Bylaws, National Rail Conditions of Travel and the Regulation of the Railways Act 1889.
  • Be conversant with relevant company standards and policies, ensuring compliance with revenue protection guidelines, cash regulations and personal safety guidelines.
You’ll need to be:
  • To have a working knowledge of revenue protection methods, and relevant laws and legal procedures.
  • To have experience working in a crime detection or analysis role, either in revenue protection, policing, or associated fields.
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
  • Have a high level of attention for detail and be highly literate in using complex data systems.
  • Be resilient and able to cope in a pressured environment
  • Be confident in using modern technology, and have an excellent knowledge of IT systems, including the Microsoft suite and Power Bi.
About the location

This role is predominantly based at Overline House in Southampton, however, travel around the network is required.

Working pattern

Working an average of 37 hours per week across an average of 5 days.

Generally office hours (0900-1700), but with flexibility to meet the needs of the business.
