This exciting role is focused on expanding American Express acceptance across franchise businesses in the UK, spanning a variety of industries. As part of the UK Client Management & B2B team within Global Merchant & Network Services (GMS), the Franchise Sales Manager plays a critical role in delivering on our strategic goal to grow merchant coverage.

You will be responsible for developing new opportunities, executing a targeted sales strategy, and leveraging existing relationships to support the business in acquiring new franchise merchants in key verticals including Convenience, QSR and Pubs. Primary you’ll be identifying leads, holding initial prospecting conversation before coordinating the opportunities amongst the relevant internal partner teams within American Express. Alongside this you will build a strong commercial relationship with key franchise associations to promote the American Express brand.

This is a high-impact role requiring a positive winning mindset, commercial acumen, relationship‑building skills, with the ability problem solve and navigate complex conversations.

How will you make an impact in this role?

  • Identify, prospect, and qualify new franchise opportunities to drive coverage and incremental revenue.
  • Engage prospects through multiple channels including phone, email, LinkedIn, and face‑to‑face meetings.
  • Manage a dynamic sales pipeline, prioritising high‑value opportunities aligned with scorecard goals.
  • Deliver compelling presentations on the value of American Express, handling commercial objections with confidence.
  • Build and maintain relationships with franchise associations to enhance brand visibility and generate leads.
  • Secure attendance, and represent American Express at, franchise expos, industry conferences, and networking events.
  • Stay informed on franchise industry trends and models, assessing their impact on Amex’s strategic objectives.
  • Coordinate sales opportunities across internal teams including Client Managers, NSF, OPC, and Third Party Relationships.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to ensure successful merchant onboarding and compliance with risk, legal, and regulatory policies.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Proven experience in relationship management and business development.
  • Strong communication and influencing skills, with confidence engaging senior stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver results and excel against scorecard targets.
  • Resilient and persistent, with a positive, can‑do attitude and a drive to win.
  • Comfortable navigating complex conversations and handling financial data.
  • Experience in the payments industry and/or marketing services is advantageous.
