Job summary

Creative Assembly is seeking a Franchise Design Director to shape the Total War design discipline, strategy, and craft. You will lead design teams, align with leadership, and drive player value through structured processes and training.

You will set the hiring bar, mentor senior designers, and build a pathway to expert level across disciplines. This hybrid role centres on long-term franchise growth and design excellence.

Qualifications

• Multiple shipped titles, including at least one shipped in a design leadership role.
• Proven track record of growing designers and running structured development for a design team.
• Experience creating formal training, onboarding and mentoring programmes.

Responsibilities

• Lead franchise design strategy and long-term capability development.
• Oversee design teams across Total War projects and ensure high-quality player value.
• Collaborate with HR, Resource Managers, Product Leads and Design Directors.
• Define design standards, hiring bar and onboarding pathways for the studio.
• Champion a data-informed, craft-driven approach to design and development.
