Job summary

Smart4 Sciences is seeking a Fragrance Development Chemist to join its R&D team in the UK. Based in Brixworth, you will work on fragrance-related technologies, from laboratory investigations to reporting findings and communicating results to project teams.

The ideal candidate will hold a degree in Chemistry or Cosmetic Science and have 3+ years in a flavour, fragrance or cosmetics environment, with laboratory experience and strong analytical skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Office is essential.

Qualifications

• Degree in Chemistry, Cosmetic Science or related scientific discipline.
• Ideally, 3+ years' experience within a flavour, fragrance, cosmetics or related technical environment.
• Previous experience working within a laboratory environment.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a methodical approach to investigations.
• Good written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage your own workload.
• The confidence to take initiative and work independently.
• The ability to work effectively both as part of a team and independently.
• Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.

Responsibilities

• Supporting the development of new and innovative fragrance-related technologies.
• Investigating the properties and interactions of perfumes and fragrance ingredients across a range of product categories.
• Developing and evaluating new methods for testing fragrances and their performance in-use.
• Conducting laboratory-based test studies using fragrances and/or raw materials.
• Analysing and interpreting test results and communicating findings to relevant project teams.
• Preparing technical reports and presentations based on experimental findings and project learnings.
• Providing technical support on fragrance stability, suitability and performance.
• Working collaboratively with colleagues across different areas of the business on specific technical projects.
• Contributing to wider R&D activities and supporting the team as required.
