About The Role

About the Role: Senior Financial Analyst.

The Team: The S&P Global Market Intelligence Divisional Finance team is a dynamic group that partners with business leadership to support growth. Team members are based in Charlottesville, New York, London, Dallas, Denver, Raleigh and Manila.

The Impact: Contribute to financial reporting and analysis for Market Intelligence functional groups. Use analytics tools and business partnering skills to identify and manage key performance drivers, present findings to senior leaders, and support decision‑making and forecasting with large data sets.

Responsibilities

  • Provide high‑quality financial information on a timely and accurate basis with action‑oriented commentary and analysis.
  • Accumulate data from company sources to assist in the preparation of monthly financial deliverables.
  • Perform revenue validations using analytical procedures and research variances through billing data, accounting systems, and customer contracts.
  • Assist in developing and distributing management reporting that tracks key performance metrics against business goals.
  • Track operational expenses and research expense trends.
  • Prepare key hiring and other expense metrics.
  • Identify opportunities to improve processes, implement best practices, and reduce complexity.
  • Assist in special projects or key initiatives for the divisional finance organization.
  • Provide analysis and guide business leaders on headcount management and cost structure.
  • Articulate operational and commercial actions for current‑year forecasts and budgets.
  • Work closely with business leaders on budgets and forecasts to:
    • Ensure up‑to‑date high‑quality revenue and expense forecasts highlighting risks and opportunities.
    • Ensure the business has an accurate budget reflecting long‑term plans and owned by the business.
    • Submit forecasts and budgets in a timely manner.

Compensation/Benefits (US candidates only)

S&P Global anticipates a base salary range of $85,773 to $148,762.5, based on location, experience, and skills. The role includes an annual incentive plan and additional corporate benefits (details available upon request).

What We’re Looking For

Basic Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Statistics, Math or related field. MBA and/or CPA preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience in financial analysis, operations, and/or accounting in a large, complex organization.
  • Strong investigative research and analytical capabilities.
  • Problem‑solving skills with the ability to develop and implement innovative solutions.
  • Experience with dashboard design (e.g., Tableau) and clear quantitative visualization.
  • Highly proficient in MS Excel (Pivot tables, V‑Lookups, IF functions, etc.) and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to multi‑task, work under pressure, and meet tight deadlines.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP.
  • Proficiency with Oracle Financials or similar systems, Anaplan, and Oracle Smartview.
