Job description

What does Nodes & Links do?

Did you know that an ancient Roman Aqueduct initially cost 12 million sesterces but ended up costing more than 30 million? Big projects have always been problematic to humanity - we want to fix that.

We are developing an AI-first SaaS platform to help people who deal with very large projects. If someone is building a nuclear plant or a data center, they need a special kind of software to organize and prioritize their work. That's us.

Recognized by TechNation, Construction Tech Review, and Amazon as industry leaders, we're part of Oxford University's Creative Destruction Lab and Entrepreneur First alumni, with awards from CIR, CogX, and the British Construction Industry. Our global clients include Intel, AECOM, and BAM, and we've raised $30M to date from top VC funds.

This is a great opportunity to join an ambitious deep-tech start-up in a dynamic and mission-driven environment, driving our growth from a start-up to a scale-up

You will also be helping to solve one of the oldest problems of mankind and potentially save the economy billions - not bad right?

What will you do in the role?

We're looking for someone who owns the model, challenges it, and turns it into the tool the leadership team uses to make decisions.

We're growing quickly, and this is the first dedicated FP&A hire in the business. You'll shape the function rather than inherit it.

  • Own the Group budget, reforecasts and long-term plan, challenging assumptions and improving forecast accuracy over time.
  • Build and maintain the Group's three-statement financial model covering P&L, balance sheet and cash flow.
  • Produce monthly Group performance reporting: actuals against budget, KPIs and cash flow.
  • Support the preparation of the Board pack and investor reporting with the Finance Director.
  • Act as the bridge between finance and sales, making sure Salesforce data reconciles to the company's reported ARR.
  • Partner with department heads to walk through their variances, explain what's driving performance and hold budgets to account.
  • Provide scenario analysis and commercial modelling to support strategic decisions.
  • Work closely with the Finance Director and Group Finance Manager to keep financial reporting accurate and consistent.
  • Drive process improvement and automation across FP&A and reporting.
Who you are
  • Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA or CIMA), or equivalent
  • Substantial FP&A experience, including building a three-statement, driver-based model from scratch, not just maintaining one someone else built.
  • Experience owning a full budget cycle with department heads, including challenging conversations.
  • Advanced financial modelling and Excel skills
  • Strong on cash flow and the KPIs that drive a business.
  • The confidence to challenge senior stakeholders and give clear commercial insight.
  • Comfortable working in a group structure with multiple currencies.
  • Embrace the use of AI.
We would love if you have
  • SaaS experience and fluency in subscription metrics (ARR, churn, net revenue retention).
  • Experience at Series B or similar scale, where the model has to be built rather than inherited.
  • Experience working with Salesforce or other CRM data.
How you work
  • You own the outcome, not the task. You work out what the business actually needs and come with a proposed answer.
  • You bring analysis to us rather than waiting to be asked.
  • You challenge assumptions, including your own.
  • You flag problems early, while they can still be solved.
  • You're communicative, direct and kind
We are
  • Hard working but not workaholic
  • Explorers. Data is our compass and innovation our destination
  • Independent thinkers. We are not afraid of looking where no one else is
  • Team players. We believe the whole is bigger than the sum of its parts
  • We have strong opinions, weakly held
  • Continuously evolving the way we do things. Even our #donut dates

Nodes & Links is an equal opportunity employer: we value diversity. We do not discriminate on the basis of race, religion, colour, national origin, gender, sexual orientation, age, marital status or disability status.

Benefits

Besides a competitive salary, we are also proud to support you with:

  • A team of Noders who are second to none. Yep - the team is that good
  • Equity in Nodes & Links - we are all in this together
  • One of the best health insurances out there (international coverage)
  • Remote work budget, to build your perfect set up (£500 year 1 + £150 year 2)
  • Personal development budget, to keep growing (£1,000 pa)
  • Enhanced pension fund (6% company contribution)
  • Annual #workation trip, to work and have fun with your teammates. We've been to Budapest, Crete, Aegina (x2)
