Job summary

JSS in Milton Keynes is seeking a senior FP&A/Commercial Finance leader to shape the business plan, oversee rolling forecasts and scenario work, and oversee cost control.

You will lead a planning and analytics team, report to executives and the board with clear financial and non-financial narratives, and drive the move to modern planning tools and trusted data.

Qualifications

• Senior finance leader with post-qualification experience in FP&A or commercial finance.
• Proven track record leading finance teams at a senior level across planning, analytics and business partnering.
• Strong modelling and scenario skills; understands link between profit, capital, claims and pricing.

Responsibilities

• Set the business plan and refresh outlook with rolling forecasts and scenarios.
• Advise on capital allocation, return, risk and affordability.
• Control day-to-day spend and major programmes; hold owners to savings.
• Ensure timely, accurate executive/board reporting with a clear narrative.
• Lead planning, data and business partnering teams; set priorities and coach leads.
• Challenge assumptions and drive actions with senior stakeholders.
• Steer the move to modern planning tools and reliable data.

Job description

What You'll Be Doing

• Setting the business plan and keeping the outlook fresh through rolling forecasts and scenario work
• Advising on where capital and investment should go, weighing up return, risk and affordability
• Keeping a firm hand on costs, from day to day running spend to major change programmes, and holding owners to account for the savings they promise
• Making sure reporting for the executive team and the board is accurate, on time and tells a clear story, covering financial and non financial measures
• Leading a team that spans planning, data and business partnering, setting priorities and coaching your leads
• Questioning assumptions, agreeing actions with senior stakeholders and following them through to results
• Steering the move to modern planning tools and more reliable data

About You

• Qualified accountant or actuary with substantial post qualification experience in senior FP&A or commercial finance
• Proven at leading finance teams at a senior level, ideally across planning, analytics and business partnering
• Strong modelling and scenario skills, and a feel for how profit, capital, claims and pricing connect
• Confident in front of executives and boards, and comfortable holding your ground when challenged
• A background in insurance, financial services or another regulated environment is a real advantage
