FP&A Associate — Private Equity Portfolio Finance

Job summary

Finatal, partnering with a leading private equity investment firm, seeks an FP&A Associate to own budgeting, forecasting, management reporting, and performance analysis across a growing portfolio of private equity and private credit investments.

You'll work closely with investment, finance, and portfolio company teams to provide clear financial insight, challenge performance, and support commercial decision-making through robust analysis, reporting, and planning.

Qualifications

• Experience in FP&A, commercial finance, financial analysis, or a similar business partnering role.
• Strong budgeting, forecasting, management reporting, and variance analysis experience.
• Advanced financial modelling and Excel skills, with the ability to translate complex data into clear insights.
• Experience analysing P&L, balance sheet, cash flow, and operational KPIs.
• Exposure to private equity, private credit, asset management, or portfolio company environments is advantageous.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with the confidence to challenge and influence.
• ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or a similar qualification, or part-qualified, is preferred but not essential.

Responsibilities

• Own and coordinate annual budgets, reforecasts, and longer-term financial plans across the portfolio.
• Produce monthly management reporting, including P&L, balance sheet, cash flow, and KPI analysis.
• Deliver detailed variance analysis against budget, forecast, and prior periods, identifying key drivers and risks.
• Build and maintain financial models to support scenario planning, liquidity forecasting, and investment decision-making.
• Monitor portfolio company performance and work with management teams to improve reporting quality and forecast accuracy.
• Prepare concise reporting packs and analysis for senior management, investment teams, boards, and other stakeholders.
• Partner with finance and investment colleagues on valuations, funding requirements, and portfolio reviews.
• Drive improvements to FP&A processes, reporting tools, controls, and data quality across the portfolio.
