Job summary

Howden is seeking an experienced FP&A Analyst to join our Commercial & Schemes finance team. The role blends reporting, planning and business partnering to drive performance through robust analysis and clear narratives for decision makers.

The position is hybrid, with minimum time in London or Cheltenham offices, and offers study support and clear career progression pathways within a fast-growing insurance group.

Qualifications

• Newly ACA/ACCA qualified
• Ideally, however will consider part qualified individuals with FP&A/Commercial Finance/Insurance experience
• Quick learner, curious self-starter, able to retain and integrate learnings
• Autonomous work style with limited oversight
• Exceptional analytical, Excel and communication skills with data-driven storytelling
• Able to translate financial concepts into simple updates for non-finance users
• Experience handling large data sets and PowerBI (or similar) is essential
• Experience in fast-paced growth environments, ideally insurance brokerage or banking
• Experience using Acturis, Anaplan and OneStream is ideal but not essential

Responsibilities

• Produce high-quality monthly P&L analysis and output at unit level with drivers and commentary
• Support monthly management reporting and quarterly Group board papers
• Track, report and explain performance of new initiatives and market rate analysis
• Partner with finance queries, provide insightful MI to drive performance
• Own central cost base and collaborate with senior leaders
• Develop PowerBI dashboards and reports with data team
• Support annual budgeting and quarterly forecasting processes
• Review investment cases, identify risks and opportunities
• Assist FP&A projects and related tasks as required

This is a hybrid role working a minimum of 2 days per week in the office (**London /** **Cheltenham**) with the rest from home. **Responsibilities:*** **Reporting and MI:** + Produce high-quality monthly analysis from every part of the P&L, producing output at a reporting unit level; with an understanding of drivers and supporting commentary + Play a part in production of the monthly management reporting and quarterly Group board papers + Responsible for tracking, reporting and explaining the performance of new initiatives, market rate analysis and key cost categories* **Business partnering:** + Actively on hand for finance queries, financial analysis and support, personally managing these through to satisfactory conclusions. + Proactively produce insightful MI and analysis to drive performance and aid decision making + Own the central cost base and partnering with senior central team leaders + Working with business leaders and our data team to develop insightful and effective PowerBI dashboards and reports* **Planning & other:** + Actively support the annual budget and quarterly forecast processes, owning key areas and aspects of the plan + Review and understand investment cases, identifying risks and opportunities + Supporting FP&A projects, initiatives and tasks as required**Experience & Professional Qualifications:*** Newly ACA/ACCA qualified Ideally, however will consider part qualified individuals with experience in FP&A/Commercial Finance/Insurance* Quick learner, curious self-starter, able to retain and integrate learnings* Comfortable working autonomously within limited oversight* Exceptional analytical, excel and communication skills with tangible experience of using data and insight to tell a clear story, drive improvement and build strong relationships* Able to convert financial acumen into simple, understandable dialogue / updates to non-finance users* Experience using large data sets and PowerBI (or similar) is essential.* Previous experience in a fast paced, growth focused environment, ideally in an insurance brokerage or a banking background is essential* Experience of using Acturis, Anaplan and OneStream is ideal but not essential* **Study Support** and career progression opportunities.
