Job summary

Evolve Personnel in Wolverhampton is seeking a dynamic Foundry Manager to lead refining operations with energy and precision. You will oversee charging, melting, refining and casting of copper, drive safety, quality and continuous improvement, and deliver KPI and cost targets in a fast-paced facility.

This role requires hands-on leadership of a production team, scheduling shifts, mentoring supervisors, liaising with maintenance, and ensuring compliance with health, safety and quality standards.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in a metals refining, casting or heavy industrial environment.
• A strong knowledge of copper refining/casting processes.
• Experience of working with hot/molten metals is required.
• Experience of the Copper Industry would be an advantage.
• Experience managing/leading a production team monitoring performance and people management.
• Experience managing other team leaders/supervisors (budget and KPI responsibility).
• Experience in a manufacturing/foundry environment would be an advantage.
• Strong problem solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Oversee the refining process for Copper(Charging, melting, refining, casting).
• Monitoring of furnace temperatures & casting speeds.
• Troubleshooting any process/equipment issues to prevent production losses and minimise downtime.
• Liaise with maintenance team in order to plan preventative maintenance and any unplanned stoppages.
• Ensure that Health & Safety standards are met.
• Ensure compliance with Quality control procedures and work with Quality on product testing/certification.
• Manage and supervise a team of refinery operatives.
• Carry out performance reviews and managing performance issues.
• Planning and managing shift rotas.
• Ownership of the refinery KPIs and cost performance targets.
• Identifying training needs and supporting development.
