Job summary

Academics Recruitment Agency is seeking a caring Teaching Assistant to join a Monmouthshire primary school’s Foundation Phase team from September 2026. You’ll work alongside the class teacher to support children during the school day, helping them engage with activities and build independence.

This role suits someone who enjoys working with younger children, values patience, consistency and a positive attitude, and understands safeguarding and pupil wellbeing.

Qualifications

• Patience and ability to build strong relationships with pupils.
• Ability to follow guidance from the class teacher while using initiative.
• Support early reading, phonics and basic numeracy where appropriate.
• Understanding safeguarding and pupil wellbeing responsibilities.

Responsibilities

• Support children throughout the school day alongside the class teacher.
• Help pupils engage with activities and develop independence.
• Create a positive and inclusive learning environment for Foundation Phase pupils.
