Job summary

Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board, North Wales, invites applications for a newly qualified pharmacist on a fixed-term/secondment until 31 March 2027 to start your career in a supportive team.

You will rotate across primary care and community services, participate in the HEIW postgraduate foundation pharmacist programme, and contribute to patient-centred care.

Welsh language skills are desirable and both Welsh and English speakers are welcome to apply.

Qualifications

  • Must hold MPharm degree and be a registered Pharmacist with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC).
  • Knowledge of clinical pharmacy and therapeutics essential.
  • Experience with electronic and manual information sources preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Work across primary care and community services at multiple sites in East IHC.
  • Participate in HEIW postgraduate foundation pharmacist programme with RCPharm credentialing.
  • Rotate across multiple departments to gain experience in clinical areas.
  • Collaborate within integrated clinical pharmacy teams to influence treatment decisions.
  • Engage in learning and professional growth in a dynamic healthcare setting.
  • Willingness to travel between sites as needed.

Job Overview

Main duties of the job
  • Work in primary care and community services across multiple sites in East IHC
  • Participate in structured training through the HEIW post-graduate foundation pharmacist programme, leading to RCPharm Foundation credentialing.
  • Rotate across multiple departments, gaining experience in specialist and generalist clinical areas.
  • Work within integrated clinical pharmacy teams to influence treatment decisions and improve patient outcomes.
  • Engage in collaborative working and maintain a strong focus on patient care.
  • Embrace opportunities for learning and professional growth in a dynamic healthcare environment.
  • The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Qualifications And/or Knowledge
Essential criteria
  • MPharm Degree or equivalent
  • Member of the General Pharmaceutical Council
  • Knowledge of clinical pharmacy
  • Good knowledge of therapeutics
  • Knowledge of electronic and manual information sources
Desirable criteria
  • Practicing member of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society
  • Post Graduate MSc/Diploma in Clinical Pharmacy or equivalent qualification
  • Training qualification
Experience
Essential criteria
  • Must be able to demonstrate suitable level of experience working in the managed sector and/or community pharmacy
Desirable criteria
  • Experience of patient-orientated medicines systems
