A local government authority in Stockport is seeking a Team Leader for their fostering service. You will lead recruitment activities, advise the Fostering panel, and manage two support teams during absences. Applicants should have significant experience in fostering services and a commitment to enhancing care for local children. This role supports ongoing professional development with flexible working options.
The fostering service has within it three teams: the Kinship Care Team, the Mainstream Support and Supervision team, and the Mainstream Recruitment and Assessment team. The team leader vacancy is within the Mainstream Recruitment and Assessment team.
In this role you will take a lead role in recruitment, act as the Professional Advisor to Stockport’s Fostering panel who meet every other week, and serve as duty manager for both the Mainstream Support and Supervision team and the Kinship Care team when those managers are unavailable. It is essential that you have extensive knowledge of a fostering service.
You will have the support of a full‑time Advanced Practitioner. Stockport Council holds a Visa sponsorship licence, but this licence can only be used for certain roles and this campaign does not currently qualify.
• Lead recruitment activities for the fostering service.
• Advise and support the Fostering panel.
• Act as duty manager for the two supporting teams during managerial absences.
• Prioritise workloads and manage a fast‑paced environment.
• Foster best practice and innovation within Stockport Family.
• Experience working in a busy fostering service, ideally at management level.
• Proven track record of prioritising workloads.
• Commitment to the future growth of the service and the best possible care for local children.
• Knowledge of the No Wrong Door Project, Mockingbird Family Model, and the Greater Manchester Community of Practice is desirable.
• Commitment to professional development and continuous learning.
