Job summary

Palantir, a world-changing technology company, seeks Forward Deployed Infrastructure Engineers to build, operate, and maintain high-performance services for Palantir platforms and deployments in the UK. You will work with forward deployed and product teams to design scalable systems and own reliability in production.

You will automate workflows, monitor infrastructure, and contribute to Foundry and Apollo deployments.

Qualifications

• Strong engineering background in CS, mathematics, software engineering, physics, or data science.
• Proficient in Java, Go, Python, JavaScript, or similar languages.
• Active or eligible for DV UK security clearance.
• Willingness to work onsite in a UK facility.

Responsibilities

• Handle support and operations of Palantir software, including monitoring and alerting, configuration management, and upgrades.
• Deploy new Palantir products across production environments and perform migrations to latest infrastructure types.
• Debug, improve, and optimise Palantir's services and infrastructure for reliability and scalability.
• Reduce manual operations and automate workflows, processes, and/or runbooks where possible.
• Provide technical troubleshooting support for production issues, participate in on-call schedule.
• Develop novel solutions in Palantir's Foundry and Apollo platforms to solve infrastructure challenges.

The Role

We're looking for Forward Deployed Infrastructure Engineers who can help us build, operate, and maintain high-performance, scalable, and reliable services for Palantir platforms, products, and deployments. You'll get to use your creativity to develop novel solutions to evolving challenges and automate processes wherever possible, using whichever tools are best for the job including industry-leading LLM and AI technology!

As a Forward Deployed Infrastructure Engineer, every day is different! You will be developing software and owning reliability and operations for software systems that are critical to solving our government's greatest challenges. We strongly believe in engineering teams being responsible for the operations of their services in production. As such, you'll work closely with both forward deployed teams and product teams to participate in sensible, scalable, systems design and share responsibility with them in diagnosing, resolving, and preventing production issues.

Core Responsibilities

• Handle support and operations of Palantir software, including monitoring and alerting, configuration management, and upgrades
• Deploy new Palantir products across many production environments and perform migrations to the latest infrastructure types
• Debug, improve, and optimise Palantir's services and infrastructure with a focus on long-term reliability and scalability
• Reduce manual operations and automate workflows, processes, and/or runbooks where possible
• Provide technical troubleshooting support for production issues, ensuring timely resolution and minimal impact on operations. Participate in a support on-call schedule.
• Develop novel solutions in Palantir's Foundry and Apollo platforms to solve infrastructure challenges

What We Value

• Confidence in troubleshooting complex systems issues independently using observability tools and service logs
• Ability to identify and automate highly manual tasks, driving ongoing improvements within and across teams
• Comfort with large scale production systems and technologies - for example, load balancing, monitoring, distributed systems, or configuration management
• Proficiency with programming languages such as Java, Python, Bash, JavaScript, Go or similar languages and be comfortable coding and/or utilising tooling built in these languages
• Ability to work with a high level of autonomy and responsibility in a rapidly changing environment with dynamic objectives and iteration with stakeholders
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in multi-functional teams

What We Require

• Strong engineering background, preferred in fields such as Computer Science, Mathematics, Software Engineering, Physics, and Data Science
• Strong coder with shown proficiency in programming languages such as Java, Go, Python, JavaScript, or similar languages
• Active or eligible for DV UK security clearance
• Ability to be physically located in our facility (or 15-minutes away) during open hours
• Sole British National
• Ability to work in a facility as a lone worker
