Unilever Formulation Research Scientist

Location: Port Sunlight R&D, United Kingdom

Travel: 5% of the time

Job Purpose

The role within the Science & Technology team is to deliver breakthrough technologies and differentiated innovations in Personal Care (Deo and Oral Care). As a formulation technologist you will develop and optimise product formulations in a multidisciplinary Physical Sciences group.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and characterise new product formulations using category‑specific techniques.
• Measure and optimise product performance and develop new characterization methods.
• Capture high‑quality data with appropriate tools to provide new product insights.
• Collaborate with robotics/automation experts as needed.

Qualifications

• BSc/MSc degree in physical chemistry, colloid science, materials science or equivalent.
• Experience with lab‑scale formulation and processing of Personal Care/Home Care products.
• Experience with OPEX App and LIMS.
• Good practical skills and ability to translate experimental insights into product opportunities.
• Desirable: experience in industrial/academic lab, safety documentation, digital methods (DoE, data analysis/manipulation).
• Excellent written and verbal communication.
