JOB TYPE: Part-Time, Permanent

JOB OVERVIEW

We have a fantastic new job opportunity for a Formulation Chemist with proven formulation chemistry experience, strong understanding of HSE and COSHH, and an interest in supporting production and development activities within a growing organisation.

As a Formulation Chemist you will work closely with the Chemist Lead and oversee daily production activities, ensuring that quality standards, safety procedures, and regulatory requirements are consistently met.

Working as a Formulation Chemist you will contribute to product improvements, optimise formulations, and support innovation while guiding a small manufacturing team within a hands‑on environment.

DUTIES
  • Optimise Product Formulations: Develop and refine formulations for home and garden care products
  • Improve Existing Formulations: Enhance product stability, performance, and cost efficiency
  • Maintain Technical Documentation: Manage formulation files, MSDS documents, and product specifications
  • Oversee Quality Control: Monitor batch quality and maintain accurate traceability records
  • Ensure Safe Chemical Handling: Oversee storage and usage of chemicals in line with HSE and COSHH guidance
  • Support Manufacturing Team: Assist in ensuring smooth daily production operations and addressing issues proactively
  • Troubleshoot Production Issues: Resolve challenges around blending, bottling, and raw materials, implementing continuous improvements
  • Source Raw Materials: Assist in identifying quality raw materials and managing supplier relationships
  • Contribute to Product Development: Support the roadmap for future innovation and scalable growth
CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS
  • Degree or higher in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or related discipline
  • Proven experience of formulation chemistry, ideally within homecare or consumer products
  • Experience with HSE, COSHH, and quality standards in a production environment
  • Highly organised with excellent problem-solving and communication skills
  • Ambitious, collaborative, and motivated to grow with a scaling organisation
  • Previous experience in developing home and garden products is highly desirable
